FAQ

IS COLON THERAPY EMBARRASSING?

After the gentle insertion of a small tube into the rectum, tubing carries the water in and out in a gently pressurized system. No mess, no fuss, no odor, in fact, a very relaxing experience for most people. You are completely covered during the entire procedure, resting comfortably on the table.

WHAT ABOUT THE USE OF LAXATIVES?

Laxatives aggravate the problem of constipation by interfering with the colon’s ability to eliminate normally on its own. The chemicals contained in laxatives irritate and stimulate the colon to abnormally contract to expel the irritating substances. In addition, the oral route of administration is the least optimal method of evacuation of the colon because very important digestive processes occurring in the stomach and small intestine are interfered with. Most laxatives and purgatives precipitate dehydration in the individual. Standard enemas only cleanse the rectum and the last portion of the colon missing most of the large intestine.

HOW MANY COLON HYDROTHERAPY SESSIONS DOES ONE NEED?

The number of hydrotherapy sessions desired will depend on the individual needs. Every person’s goals will differ. Initially, a series of 3 to 6 colonics closely grouped together prove most beneficial. Individual treatment plans are recommended based on colon health, diet, and lifestyle.
Just as some people exercise on a daily or weekly basis to tone and tighten their outer body, some people follow an ongoing cleansing, toning and rebuilding regimen for the inner body. Colon hydrotherapy can be used as part of any regular monthly maintenance program.
When you start a detox (cleansing) program, especially as a first-time cleanser, it is important to keep it simple. A realistic commitment is required to stay excited about creating long term optimal health.
A session is a comfortable experience for many people. Techniques utilized allow a small amount of water to flow through the colon gently stimulating the colon’s natural peristaltic action to release softened waste. When slight pressure builds in the colon, the water is released through an illuminated viewing tube. The inflow of water and the release of waste may be repeated several times during the 45 to 60 minute session.

  • Disposable single-use speculums and tubes are used.
  • A gown is always worn to ensure modesty. If preferred, clothing from the waist up may be kept on. Your dignity is always maintained.
  • You lie on your back with the upper torso resting in the slanted position for comfort.
  • Abdominal massage techniques are used to stimulate peristalsis throughout the session.
  • The therapist stays in the room with you at all times during the session.

IS COLONTHERAPY SAFE AND SANITARY?

Yes. Each client receives his or her own brand-new speculum and plastic hose, which are immediately disposed of after use. Since all water and wastes (in two separate tubes) are completely contained in a closed system, there is no mess and no odor. The client's dignity is preserved by the use of private draping and room. The procedure is professionally performed and preserves modesty.

IS COLONTHERAPY PAINFUL OR DANGEREOUS?

No. The pressure is less than that of naturally occurring gas. The most one feels is the urge to have a bowel movement. This urge is satisfied by the work of the constantly circulating water, which removes first the new waste, then the old, long-term wastes.

WILL ONE CLEANSING COMPLETELY EMPTY THE COLON?

Almost never. Many of us have ten or more pounds of impacted feces in our colon. This is hardened, rubbery material and substantial work must be done to remove it. One cleansing removes some, the second even more. Your personal objective will determine how many sessions you wish to have. An initial series of between three to six treatments is recommended. Years of improper nutrition cannot possibly be reversed in a few treatments. More treatments may be required in cases of chronic constipation or the atonics (sluggish colon condition). Following the initial program, it is advisable to have a series of three treatments every three to six months to maintain optimal colon health.

CAN COLON THERAPY WASHAWAY ALL BACTERIA, EVEN THE GOOD ONES?

The helpful bacteria can only live in an acidic environment whereas the harmful ones thrive in an alkaline environment. Most people due to years of improper eating, lack of exercise and poor elimination have an alkaline colon. So, it’s helpful to flush away the bacteria in an alkaline colon. The great benefit of the cleansing program is to change the environment from alkaline to acid.
